“Pathways of forest bioeconomy – past, present and future?”

Due to coronavirus pandemic in Europe, we regret to tell that we have decided to postpone Meeting from 10-12 May to 27-29 September, 2020. The Meeting is planned to happen in the same venue as earlier announced i.e. Lehmonkärki Resort, Asikkala, southern Finland.

The connection between the IUFRO 5.10 Conference and the SSFE Meeting is maintained, and the programme of the week remains the same (IUFRO: Sunday-Tuesday 27.-29.9.; SSFE: Tuesday-Thursday 29.9.-1.10.

All so far submitted abstracts and registrations will stay valid, and we will inform about the new deadlines for the registration and new opportunity to abstract submission, which will be in August 2020. The same all inclusive registration package is valid. If you cannot join us and have already registered with payment, please be in contact with us about how we can arrange reimbursement.

Important deadlines

Deadline for abstract submission February 29th, 2020 via this link.

Notification of acceptance in early March, 2020.

Registration deadline April 1st, 2020. The registration by the deadline is prerequisite for keeping your presentation in the final schedule.

The conference fee includes: the scientific program, all meals and coffee during the conference, accommodation*, and if you are staying for the SSFE, sauna world on Tuesday night (bring your bathing suits).

The registration fee covers the pre-scheduled transportation between the conference venue and Lahti railway station 10-12.5.2020. See section Venue and arrival for more information.

*Accommodation is included in 2 person’s room for 2 nights (10-12.5.2020). The rooms are assigned upon arrival at Lehmonkärki, when it is also possible to make arrangements to share a room with your colleague. Otherwise, your roommate will be assigned to you.

Venue and arrival

The conference will be organized in Asikkala, which is a small municipality located 45 minutes (41 km) up north from the Lahti railway station. Detailed information on the transportation will be provided in April for the registered attendants.

The conference venue is Lehmonkärki, which is a beautiful lakeside resort providing opportunities for scientific discussions and recreation.

Keynote speakers May 11th from 2 pm

“Past, current and future trends of bioeconomy”, Professor Eric Hansen, Oregon State University, USA.

Eric is Professor of Forest Products Marketing and Department Head of Wood Science and Engineering at Oregon State University (OSU). He is co-author of the textbook Strategic Marketing in the Global Forest Industries and Editor of BioProducts Business, a journal published by the Society of Wood Science and Technology.

“The role of partnerships in building bioeconomy”, Associate professor Silja Korhonen-Sande, Norwegian University of Life Sciences, Norway.

Silja is an associate professor in business strategy at the Norwegian University of Life Sciences. Her current areas of research interest are the role of inter-organizational co-operation and competition in industry development (buyer-supplier relationships, competitor relationships, relationships between start-ups and established firms, etc.), and implementation of customer-oriented strategies.
